Scene Template Library

Did you know that we have 2300+ individual scene templates to choose from, all pre-populated with backgrounds, animated effects, props, and characters? From a scene set in an office to metaphors set in space or on a pirate ship, the scene template library has scenes that will make your video shine. When editing your video, click on “Scene” in the top-left corner to access the scene template library, or select “choose template” after clicking “add scene” on your timeline.

Video and folder layout enhancements in list view

We made some big updates to list view in 2021 thanks to your feedback. Now you can organize your video library more efficiently with this latest update that sees large thumbnails for recent videos, a new navigation path, as well as bulk actions on folders and videos.

Grid and safe area guidelines

2021 gave us the option to use line guides in Vyond Studio, making it even easier to compose balanced scenes in your videos. You can find the Guides menu on the right side of the stage just above the timeline, with the option to show ‘Grid’ and ‘Safe Area’ lines.

Custom Aspect Ratios

2021 brought us the ability to change the aspect ratio on videos! Next time you’re in Vyond Studio, head to the Video Settings menu. You can change the aspect ratio from the usual Horizontal (16:9) to become Square (1:1), Vertical (9:16), or even a custom size.

Lock Assets on Stage

This year brought the debut of an often-requested feature: the ability to lock assets to the stage! Select the assets you would like to lock to the stage then right-click to open the menu to see the Lock option. You can unlock the same way, or try the keyboard shortcuts. This feature makes things much easier when you have lots of assets on the stage during video production.

Background Manipulation

2021 brought us the ability to use custom images and even videos as your video’s background in Vyond Studio! And not only can you add images and videos, but you can crop, rotate, and use other manipulation tools to make sure your video looks exactly the way you intend.

This year, our team worked incredibly hard to allow speakers of languages other than English to easily search within Vyond Studio. Search for props, characters, audio, scene templates, and more in your desired language. Switch the language next to the search bar, and it will translate the search terms to match them with corresponding results from the library.

Shared Spaces

Last but certainly not least, this year we released our all-new collaboration feature Shared Spaces for Vyond For Enterprise!

Shared Spaces allow you to quickly and easily invite team members to collaborate, making teamwork simple. Shared Spaces allow users to create a space, move or copy your videos into the space, and invite members throughout your organization to join – giving new team members an easy way to get onboard. This reduced time and increased collaboration lead to easier onboarding, enhanced ability of administrators to see what’s going on within their teams, and faster completion of projects.

A top-requested feature is making its debut: lock assets to the stage! Select the assets you would like to lock to the stage then right click to open the menu to see the Lock option. You can unlock the same way, or try the keyboard shortcuts. This feature makes things much easier when you have lots of assets on the stage during video production.

Shared Spaces for Enterprise

For big teams you need a space for collaboration. We’ve created shared spaces, where you can put videos and folders to allow easy access for the different Vyond members in a Vyond for Enterprise account.

• Great for onboarding new members as you can place welcome videos and templates for them to use
• Easy to create shared spaces and invite all the Vyond users in your organization
• When someone is leaving, no need to transfer videos as they can all remain in the shared space

Hand Gestures and Other Content

Raise your hand if you’re happy for more hand gestures! New content in this release includes a wide selection of color-adaptable hand gestures, so you can swipe, point, pinch and poke to your heart’s content.

Here is a list of our newly added content:

• Kaffiyeh enhancement (Business Friendly): The kaffiyeh items in the Character Creator have been enhanced to be a bit longer

Place assets inside the camera frame

When you save the settings you’ll see the camera frame adjust to your selected aspect ratio, giving you the freedom to move the camera position across the stage and only show the assets in the frame. When it’s time to download, the generated video will match the aspect ratio selected in the Video Settings.

Save Scenes as a New Video

Have you ever wanted to turn parts of your video into a GIF? Or only share certain sections of your video project? Now, you can make quick copies of your selected scenes with the following steps:

• Holding down the Ctrl / Cmd key, select the scenes and any audio you want to save
• Right-click to open the menu
• Select “Save as New Video”
• A success snackbar will give you the option to open a new tab to view your scenes

Your new video will be saved in the same location as your original file.

Search in Japanese

You can now search for items in the library with Japanese keywords! We are experimenting to cover the majority of props and actions, but of course, all the latest Japan-themed assets are already searchable in Japanese.

Motion Path Update

Next time you’re adding motion path to a scene, you’ll notice two timing options available in the settings. The default setting for a preset motion path will be ‘Auto Fit’. When a motion path has ‘Auto Fit’ selected, the timing will match the scene duration. If you wish to adjust the delay or duration of the motion path, you can choose ‘Custom’ to alter them as you like.

Using Motion Paths

The new motion path feature has many options that can be used to make your ideas into videos. Take a look at the article below for more information on how to use the new motion paths. 

Use Vyond to animate your next adventure. With this update, we’ve added all the props, backgrounds, and characters you’ll need to storm the castle, slay a dragon, or rescue the princess. 

Here is a list of our newly added content:

Enhanced Security for Expired Accounts

Security is a top priority at Vyond, so we’ve added an extra privacy measure to further protect your work. Now, you’ll find that if your account expires, before you can access it, you’ll need to confirm your identity by clicking on an access link sent to the email address registered to your account.

Try List View

Click on the button in the banner to try these features and give us your feedback. You can see more videos at a glance with list view. It’s now easier to sort and organize them, too. 

Bulk Actions

Get more done at once with bulk actions. Now you can select multiple videos and right-click to download, copy, delete, or move them all to another folder.

People come in all different colors and shapes, and we constantly strive to better allow each individual to be able to represent themselves within Vyond Studio. With this in mind, we’ve updated facial features in the Contemporary Style. You can now change the colors of noses, mouths, and other facial feature outlines  in the Contemporary Character Creator to better highlight features against any color skin tone. 

Enhanced Volume Control Settings

We’ve made a few enhancements to make it faster and easier to adjust volume in the audio settings panel.

1) Keyboard shortcut

When an audio clip is selected, you can open the audio settings panel with a keyboard shortcut:
Windows: Ctrl + Shift + A
Mac: Cmd + Shift + A

2) Adjust Volume From Dropdown List

Just like selecting font sizes, you can now choose your volume level from a list. You can still type in a number into the field if you want to adjust to a custom volume.

3) Persistent Volume Control Panel

As well as making it easier to open up the audio settings panel, now it’s more convenient to adjust multiple tracks. When you click between audio tracks, the panel will stay open. The panel remains open even if you split a track.

Can I add a transparent background to my Vyond video?

The mask feature allows you to use certain shapes, frames, and screen props to hide or show parts of another asset. We’ve enhanced it to add a visible overlay—making it much easier to see what you’re masking. To learn more about masking and maskable assets, take a look at this help center article. 

Cropping

To make it even easier to modify the assets and images in your video, we’ve added a crop tool. Cropping allows you to trim the edges of an asset—cutting out the parts you don’t want, and controlling exactly how much of the asset you’ll show.

In response to COVID-19, we’ve added some new actions to the platform to enhance your videos. These actions include:

What is masking?

How do I make animals/custom props talk? 

With cropping, you can mix and match assets to assign lip-synch to any asset—for example, making an animal talk. This help center article gives clear step-by-step instructions on how to achieve this effect.

How to crop an asset

The crop tool allows you to adjust the borders of an asset, cutting out parts that you don’t want to be visible. This help center article gives more information on cropping and how to use it. 

We’ve added new surfing content to the Business Friendly style, including 10 surfing actions, 7 props, and 2 new backgrounds. Take a look, and hit the surf!

Administrator Content Transfer

Professional or Enterprise account administrators can now transfer content from a deactivated user to new users on the team, even if they haven’t yet created their Vyond account. This process greatly streamlines the onboarding of new users.

How do I flip or mirror an asset?
Assets can now be flipped or mirrored, giving you more flexibility when placing a character or asset. Take a look at this article for more information on flipping and mirroring assets. 

Now you can copy and paste between different projects. Take assets from one browser tab to another:

Keyboard Shortcuts 

• Select assets in the first tab and press Ctrl+C or Cmd⌘+C on Mac.
• In the next tab, paste with Ctrl+V or Cmd⌘+V.

100+ New Sound Effects

The right sound effect at the right time can make all the difference when creating your video. We’ve just added more than 100 new effects! The full list of new sound effects can be found here. 

Retiring the Legacy Video Maker and Pause Users Feature

On December 16, 2019, Vyond will retire the Legacy Video Maker (The old video maker). The first phase of this process took place on August 14, 2019, when all user accounts defaulted to Vyond Studio. All legacy videos will continue to be available for migration to Vyond Studio for the foreseeable future after the Legacy Video Maker is retired, though we recommend that if you use the Legacy Video Maker extensively, you should download all of your videos from legacy prior to December 16th to ensure that you have the original MP4 file. 

As part of the Legacy Video Maker’s retirement, we will also be retiring the Pause Users feature, as it is incompatible with Vyond Studio. In the short-term, the Pause Users feature will be replaced by two new features: the ability to deactivate users and the ability to transfer content from one user’s account to another. This will ensure that any currently paused user’s data is not lost. 

Retiring the Legacy Video Maker and Pause Users feature

In the longer-term, we will be releasing an all-new Admin Panel in 2020, which will have many new features that streamline user management: 

• User Groups – Assign users on your team to groups and give them the ability to share videos and assets within those groups. 
• Additional User Roles – New user roles will allow admins to more effectively classify your team into functional user roles, allow or restrict the use of individual features, and more. 
• Activity Logs – Administrators will be able to track activity across their team, including things like last login, last shared video, last created video, and more.
